About me

CISO & CSO @ Upwind Security | Founding Partner @ Lockstep Ventures I’m a security executive and strategic leader with 23 years of experience building and leading global security infrastructure for companies like IBM, Walmart.com, Intuit, PG&E, eBay, Palo Alto Networks, Twitter, and BILL. I started as a developer, which shapes how I approach security today, practical, product-aware, and deeply aligned with engineering realities. I’ve led teams ranging from 15 to 500 people across international markets and managed programs with budgets exceeding $100M, including building Walmart.com’s large-scale security infrastructure and designing security strategy for eBay’s global ecosystem of businesses. I’ve also played key roles in M&A transactions, ensuring system integrity and security through complex transitions. My work focuses on helping organizations scale securely while maintaining velocity, resilience, and trust. I also am the founding partner of Lockstep Ventures, a VC firm focused on cybersecurity investments. We have made 13 investments in cybersecurity companies. I advise, help companies with product-market fit, go to market, and just support founders. Although we write smaller checks, our impact is generally larger than the VCs with the largest check. I have sat on the boards of Forgerock (pre-IPO, IPO, acquired by Thoma Bravo) and StrongDM (acquired by Delinea), and Vaultree If you’re scaling infrastructure, preparing for enterprise growth, or need security leadership that thinks like an operator, I’d be glad to connect on Hubble.
